Gewista receives Bezirksoscar 2018

On October 25, 2018, the awarding of the Bezirksoscars in Landstraße took place in Studio 44 of the Austrian Lotteries for the 22nd time. The Bezirksoscar was established by the Landstraße Committee in 1996. The Landstraße Committee comprises of “opinion leaders" pertaining to the Landstraße. Several general directors of well-known large-scale enterprises as well as top officials of the city of Vienna, doctors and others who are concerned about the Landstraße, are part of the committee. The committee, together with the district councillor, strives to make the 3rd district even more attractive through various activities, for example on a cultural level.   With the "Bezirksoscar", the committee founded by District Councillor Erich Hohenberger honours outstanding achievements of companies in the 3rd district.

The list of previous winners includes companies such as "Austrian Lotteries", "Rudolfstiftung Hospital", "ARWAG Holding", "Austrian Mint", Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG, Austro Control, BAI or the Swiss post.
 
This year's award was conferred upon Gewista.

Gewista CEO, Franz Solta: "On behalf of all employees of Gewista, I would like to thank the awarding "Landstraße Committee” and District Councillor Erich Hohenberger for the awarding of this prize, the Bezirksoscar! (The District Oscar) This award is of special significance to us! Not only because Gewista has received it for the first time in its now nearly 100-year-old journey (Gewista was founded in 1921), but also because the company is deeply rooted in the 3rd district. Gewista was located at Modenapark since the early 70s until 1978. Since 1978, we are based on the Litfaßstraße 6 and we are proud that the street name of our location since 1983 has been living up to the Ernst Litfaß’s name, the inventor of one of our most beautiful outdoor advertising media, the advertising pillar. A connection that one must indeed never forsake! I am therefore sure we will also stay loyal to the district for a very long time. As a company, we consider it important not only to offer our outdoor advertising media to big advertisers with equally big budgets, but also to have tailored offers for regional small and medium-sized enterprises as part of our portfolio. We have been keeping up with this promise of being a strong partner to the regional economy since the founding of Gewista. Finally, I would like to mention that the sentiment of service to the general public, the public value and corporate social responsibility is very crucial to us as well. We focus on sustainability and provide benefits for the people of Vienna. To cite an example, we are building shelters that will protect passengers of Vienna Lines (Wiener Linien) from wind and weather. We invented the City Bike free rent-a-bike system, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. We are equipping our advertising media with automatic external defibrillators that can be publicly retrieved, for instance, right on the Landstraßer Hauptstraße 27, and we are providing Cityinfo terminals that display services in the immediate vicinity."

In terms of music, the group "Emotion" accompanied the event, which has another purpose: Small talk between personages, who - also because of their very busy schedules - rarely come together at the same table.
